Again, welcome to the SBAST Sharks official web site.
We would like to extend a special welcome to all new members and
their parents. We hope you find this program an enjoyable
way to spend part of your summer. To our returning
swimmers and parents, we wish you an extra special "Welcome
Back." We are glad you decided to join us again for
another great summer of swim team fun.
We Have Several Goals
The goal of the SBAST is to provide South Belt area youth
under the age of 19, a high quality summer swim program in which
they can improve their competitive aquatic skills and learn the
principles of teamwork and good sportsmanship.
Board of Directors
The SBAST Board of Directors is a volunteer group of parents
that meets each month to help direct the swim team throughout

We have several open spots on the Board and are always
looking for concerned parents wishing to contribute.

Clear Creek Swim League (CCSL)
The SBAST is a member of the Clear Creek Swim League.
The CCSL is a non-profit organization that organizes competitive
swimming events between member teams.
The Clear Creek Swim League, Inc. is a
non-profit organization formed in 1964 for the purpose of
sponsoring competitive and developmental swimming events and
activities in and between the community swimming pools in the
Clear Creek [suburban southeast Houston] and surrounding areas
of Texas' Galveston Bay. It will also develop a love for the
sport and advance aquatic skills, teamwork and the principles of
good sportsmanship.

Competing Teams
There are twenty (20) competing teams in the CCSL.
These teams are divided into four divisions: Division I, II,
III, IV which go from the largest teams to smallest teams.
Division I: Deer
Park, Friendswood, Harbour Tide, Pinebrookwood, League City.
Division III: El Lago, Nassau Bay, Baytown, Southbelt,
Clear Lake City
Division IV: Clear Lake Forest, Dickinson, Timber Cove,
Northshore, Heritage Park
CCSL Handbook
The League also publishes the CCSL Handbook. The
handbook includes the rules that govern the meets, the order of
the events at the meets,, the championship cut-off times, the
rules for swimming the strokes, CCSL records, and much more.

United States Swimming is the national governing body for
swimming in the United States. United States Swimming is
made up of 59 Local Swimming Committees, 14 Regions and 5 Zones.
These are year-round competitive swim teams of which there are
several in our area. These teams do not compete in CCSL
meets; however, many of their swimmers are also members of
various CCSL teams. Any member of a USS team is welcome to
participate and compete on a CCSL member team. The CCSL
uses USS rules for all competition, though some of the rules
have been slightly modified.
