GREAT FUN FOR ALL AGES

The SBAST Sharks is the summer swim league for South Belt area kids. We compete in swim meets against opponents in the Clear Creek Swim League

LEARN TO SWIM COMPETITIVELY

Although we do not teach beginning swimming, we will teach your child with a basic knowledge of swimming to swim the competitive strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.

TEAMWORK

Our swim team has about 130-160 kids during any given season and we foster teamwork and camaraderie. Our swim meets are fun and a great way to make friends.

OUR COACHING IS AWESOME

Our coaches are experienced, dedicated swimmers themselves. You will be amazed at how quickly your child develops into competitive swimmers!

FUN SUMMER PROGRAM

Instead of sitting around bored all summer, SBAST provides an affordable program that your child can participate and excel in. Our parents and volunteer Board are super at accomodating swimmers and their families.

MAKE FRIENDS

Practices and swim meets are great for making friends. We foster teamwork overall and our competitive, supportive atmosphere creates a perfect environment.

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

Watch your kids swim, be a timer, you will have plenty of opportunity to spend time with your kids this summer.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR SBAST SHARKS: Apparently I-45 S at Nasa Rd. One will be closed tomorrow morning so everyone take El Dorado or Bay Area Blvd left to Hwy 3, turn right to Nasa Road One and turn left.  The rest of the directions are the same.  Rick's phone number is 713-628-0637 if you have problems.  Click here for map

SHARKS UNDEFEATED IN FOUR STRAIGHT WITH WIN OVER BAYTOWN

The sharks maintained their perfect season record with an abbreviated win over the Baytown Buccaneers.  Rain threatened to stop the meet several times but held on until event 60 prompting the team representatives to meet and determine the outcome.  The Sharks edged passed the Buccaneers 295 to 287.

Baytown is a very strong team and with the Nauticats, was heavily favored to win the division.  With great effort from all our swimmers, we were able to prevail and keep our perfect season intact.

Next week, we have an away meet with the Nassau Bay Nauticats.  A win here will clinch our division championship.  Please make every attempt to get your swimmers there.  Click here for map to their pool.  We will need everyone to get this win since our season is ending with the two strongest teams in the division.

Just a note:  parking is in a neighborhood for this meet so its very limited and if you get there late, you may be parking very far away.  Just swing by the entrance to the pool and drop off your stuff and swimmers.  Cones will show you where you cannot park.  See ya there at our last regular season meet.

CHAMP MEET SIGNUPS

Parents, check the time sheets at the practices to see if your swimmer has achieved champ/reserve times.  If so and you would like for your swimmers to participate in the Championship Series on June 30 and July 1st (Novice/Reserve and Champ, respectively), you must turn in your requested strokes and the money ($2.00 per event) to Coach Melinda by Monday, June 25.  If you do not, your swimmer cannot swim in the Championship Series.

This Series is a great experience for swimmers because they get to compete with swimmers from every division who achieved champ times or better.  It will be held in Baytown at Ross Sterling High School.  It is an eight lane indoor pool with touch pads.  For some, it doesn't get any better than this.

ANNUAL TEAM BANQUET

The Annual Team Banquet and Awards Ceremony will be Thursday, July 12 at 7:00 pm at St. Luke's Church on Hall Rd. [ map ]   Each family is asked to bring two dishes and two bottles of soft drinks.  Please sign up at the practices and note what you are planning to bring.  The signup forms will be divided into "Main Course", "Dessert", "Side Dish", etc.

We will be handing out trophies for all swimmers and specialty awards for our outstanding swimmers plus some other fun stuff so please plan to attend.

FLATBED TRAILERS NEEDED

We would like to have two flatbed trailers for the Sagemont 4th of July Parade this year.

With that in mind, please plan to have your swimmers participate in the parade.  It only lasts a couple of hours and you may get a glimpse of Mayor White.  He attends them all.

Anyone with a trailer available, please contact Mrs. Pat Cipolla at 713-991-2513.

CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

If you are planning to have your swimmers participate in this year's Championship Series, we need your help.  We need five (5) people for crowd control on Saturday afternoon and five (5) people for Ready Area on Sunday afternoon.  Contact Karen Taylor if you can help out at 832-439-2661.
